Since 1941, Shawnee Yacht Club, with support from Shawnee County Parks and Recreation, has provided the local community with sailing facilities and an organized sailing program on Lake Shawnee, including public sailboat rides, sailing lessons, races, regattas, youth programs, charitable events and social gatherings. Many hundreds of individuals and families have participated in SYC activities over the years.
