Dornwood Park Trails are located in southeast Topeka and are accessable from a trailhead on SE 25th Street, east of California Avenue as well as from Whittenberg Road on the east side of the park. The trails meander along Deer Creek in heavily forested, rolling terrain. Near the 25th Street trailhead the remnants of old stone dairy buildings can be seen. On the south side of the park, trails also wind through wide open prairie grasses. On the northwest side of the park the trail rolls along high banks above Deer Creek.
If you are interested in working on the trails, please check our calendar page for more information. Regular monthly trail workdays are scheduled for the 4th Saturday of the month, weather permitting. Volunteers meet at the trailhead parking lot on SE 25th Street at 9 AM and usually work until around noon. We supply all the tools and equipment needed. Contact the trail coordinator to obtain more information.
