Lakeside West [1]

Lakeside West is an out-and-back trail that follows the western shore of the quarry lake. It begins at the end of the wide gravel West Spur Trail and heads south along the shoreline through the trees, dipping into a rocky gully with tight and challenging twists, before crossing two short wooden bridges to emerge onto a short section of more prairie-like terrain. Pause at the high point and note the old rock wall rising 20 feet or so from the lake, then continue through a flowy segment dominated by cedars, before hitting the property line and turning back inland to follow a small stream back north to connect to the inbound trail.

The majority of this trail is very manageable, but the twists, turns, rocks, and roots of the gully crossing will challenge even more experienced riders. It's a nice workout, with some great views of the lake.
